Welcome to the wonderful world of smoothies! I understand that it can be difficult to get your daily servings of fruits and vegetables, especially with busy lifestyles and unhealthy food options readily available. That's why I want to share with you the many health benefits of eating your five daily servings of fruits and vegetables, and some of my favorite smoothie recipes that will provide you with a simple yet delicious way to do so.
Like many of us, I wasn't aware of what healthy food was growing up. I struggled with higher-than-normal cholesterol, weight management, and frequent heartburn. I tried various diets and supplements but was never able to stick to them long enough to see any real results.
That's why I was excited to discover the power of smoothies. I first tried them around the holidays in 2007 and quickly became a fan of the simple pear-avocado smoothie. I found them to be the easiest and most delicious way to get my five servings of fruits and vegetables per day.
I began experimenting with different flavors and found that I could get up to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables without really tasting the veggies. I eventually replaced my morning breakfast and coffee with a rich, delicious smoothie and noticed an increase in energy and a decrease in cravings for junk food.
I quickly dropped to my ideal weight and have been able to maintain it ever since. The smoothies not only tasted great, but they also kept my health on track and my weight in check.
